SPE Honored with the Kuang Tuo Award, Setting a Benchmark in Solar Photovoltaic Systems
Release Date : 2025-11-07
The International Energy Agency (IEA) forecasts that global data center electricity demand will more than double by 2030, driven primarily by the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence (AI). In response, Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs has introduced amendments requiring ultra-large and colocation data centers with loads of 5MW or above to submit energy usage plans during new construction or expansion.
Taiwan Green Electricity Application Association (TAGET) Chairwoman and SPE Chief Operating Officer Pi Wan-ping emphasized that net-zero pathways and green electricity are becoming essential for data centers. TAGET co-organized Energy Taiwan and Net-Zero Taiwan this year, presenting innovative photovoltaic applications and energy management results, along with themed salon forums exploring practical pathways toward low-carbon transformation.
This year’s “Excellence Solar System Award” was jointly selected by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and academic experts. After rigorous document reviews and on-site evaluations, four winners were chosen from numerous photovoltaic projects nationwide. SPE received the award for its Tainan Xuejia Multi-Use Canal Photovoltaic Project.
SPE Chairman Justin Tsai noted that the company has spent the past decade advancing renewable energy, corporate sustainability, and low-carbon transformation. The award-winning project integrates water management operations with solar generation, reinforcing local cooperation and showcasing the dual benefits of green energy and environmental sustainability. It is expected to reduce 6,902 metric tons of carbon emissions over 20 years.
SPE delivers low-carbon energy solutions for industrial hubs across Asia. It is the first energy service provider in Taiwan to secure ISO 14064-1 greenhouse gas inventory certification for two consecutive years and achieve carbon-neutral certification. With projects spanning Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines, SPE’s services include solar PV, energy storage, biomass energy, and green power trading, with cumulative development exceeding 1GW. The company aims to further strengthen integrated low-carbon capabilities, expand its overseas presence, align with global standards, and target an 80% dividend payout ratio to share its growth with shareholders.
