Tsai Chung-chih: Not Only Taiwan, the Entire Globe is Developing Green Power

Tsai Chung-chih, the chairman of SunPower Smart Energy CO., LTD., stated that in 2024, the proportion of global low-carbon energy has reached 40%, with solar and wind power accounting for 8%. This signifies that there is a global demand for green power, not just in Taiwan. To achieve RE100, European and American brand owners are also demanding that their supply chains increase the proportion of green electricity.

Tsai Chung-chih pointed out that global purchases of green power have already exceeded 46GW, and the demand for clean energy is showing exponential growth. Lacking sufficient green power certificates could very likely lead to order transfers. Therefore, it is necessary to provide RE100-compliant green power renewable energy certificates, strengthen corporate sustainability and competitiveness, assist enterprises in enhancing brand value, and improve power stability.

Taiwan's Natural Disasters Forge Strongest Hard Power

Tsai Chung-chih stated that Taiwan's current renewable energy market faces challenges such as time-consuming land resource integration and the need for more time for Taipower's grid connection. Consequently, many green power companies, including SPE, have expanded overseas. A blessing in disguise is that Taiwan's frequent typhoons and earthquakes have, in turn, honed companies' excellent skills.

Tsai Chung-chih indicated that entering the Southeast Asian market, which is quite different from Taiwan's environment, is also full of business opportunities. When enterprises build solar energy in Southeast Asia, the cost of each kilowatt-hour of green power will not exceed NT$2, which is beneficial for enterprises to reduce operating costs.

SPE assists Taiwanese businesses, particularly in the semiconductor and manufacturing industries, so that no matter which new market they expand to, they can quickly obtain international certificates and increase their proportion of physical green power usage, creating a low-carbon energy partnership model that transcends a simple buy-sell relationship.
